City of Kirksville outlines goals for 2018
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
With only a few weeks left in 2017, one Heartland city council is looking forward to the new year.
Kirksville City Council members recently met in a study session.
There, city staffers discussed goals for 2018.
Next year, the city plans to insure that comprehensive economic development programs are retained.
It will do that by coordinating and encouraging quarterly meetings with different economic development operations.
The city also says it will continue to work with the tourism office to develop a tourism program.
The idea of that program is to expand the number of visitors to Kirksville.
According to city documents, Kirksville staffers also have a number of topics planned to discuss during study session meetings.
Study sessions are held in a workshop-type setting and provide an opportunity for council to review future council items or other city happenings.
A few study session topics include: the Downtown Revitalization Program, 2020 census preparations, Central African or immigrant community outreach, and an update on the plans to construct a community center.
Overall, Kirksville city staffers say they are looking forward to 2018.
