The City of Ottumwa now has a newly refurbished fountain.
That fixed-up fountain is located at Ballingall Park on Main Street. A special ceremony was held Thursday evening.
The fountain was rededicated and then turned on for the community to enjoy. The historic fountain underwent a major restoration. That included replacing its piping and pump system. New lights were also installed.
The fountain features different light and water patterns that are able to change every few minutes. Those who attended the ceremony say they are excited to have a relaxing place to gather.
"We have people who remember this as kind of a gathering spot for Ottumwa. We are just thrilled to be here and thankful to all the people who made this become a reality," said Mayor Tom Lazio of the City of Ottumwa.
The Ballingall Park Fountain will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The lights will turned on from 7 to 11 each evening.
