City plow falls through ice in Ottumwa Park
The day took an unexpected twist for the Ottumwa Parks Department when a truck plowing the snow for an ice rink on the pond in Greater Ottumwa Park fell through the ice.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. Friday.
The driver plowed the rest of the snow off with no problem, but the ice was not as thick towards the edges of the pond.
It took about 30 minutes to get the truck pulled out of the pond, but no one was harmed and there was only minor damage to the vehicle.
