Have you recently became a caregiver and need some support?
One Heartland group is here to help you get use to this new life adjustment. The Northeast Missouri Rural Health Network is once again offering classes on Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
The free six week course is an educational program designed to help caregivers take care of themselves while providing care to a love one.
"If we can be good caregivers, then we can actually help the people that we are taking care of. So in turn the receiver is the one that gets the good care. If we don't take care of ourselves, we're the ones that might become sick before even the person we take care of becomes ill," said Jennifer Chrisman of the Northeast Missouri Rural Health Network.
Chrisman also added that the caregivers will learn about relaxation, making better decisions and better communication skills.
The classes are going to be offered beginning next Wednesday July 30 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Northeast Missouri Rural Health Network Office in Kirksville.
For more information or to register for the classes ahead of time call (660) 665-0330.
