Coffee drive benefits Heartland veterans

It's time to bust out the coffee, the annual Ottumwa Elk's Lodge Coffee Drive is quickly approaching.

This year's coffee drive will take place on Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As always, the event benefits veterans from Marshalltown and Ottumwa.

Representatives from the Elk's Lodge will be taking donations at north HyVee, Drugtown, and Fairway in Ottumwa.

If you would like to donate money or coffee will be gladly accepted.

Don Lewis, leading Knight at the Ottumwa Elk's Lodge, is very grateful for all the support the Ottumwa community continues to provide.

â??The citizens of Ottumwa have done very well every year. Iâ??m very proud of the way they respond to our veterans' needs. We've probably collected on average $1,200 a year in coffee and cash donations, so hopefully we can achieve that,â?? said Lewis.

The Elk's Lodge asks that coffee donations be limited to decaf.
