Committee meets to discuss Heartland safety
Having a safe and healthy community is a priority, and no one understands that like local leaders.
Agencies from the Local Emergency Planning Committee met Thursday morning at the Adair County Annex. The LEPC is responsible for maintaining the city and county emergency plan. Some topics up for discussion included the committee budget, training projects, Homeland Security funding grants and the annual drive-thru flu clinic.
â??Itâ??s a free service. Anyone who lives in the county can get those flu shots,â?? said LEPC Chairman Tom Johnson. â??We usually serve quite a few peopleâ??about 1,800 last year. Not only does it help the community by getting them their flu shots, it gives us a chance to practice some emergency procedures.â??
Members from local law enforcement, emergency services, the fire department and others attended the meeting. The LEPCâ??s next meeting will be on Thursday, September 11.
