One Heartland community rallied together to support a local family.
Brock and Veronica Snyder, along with their son Dakota, lost their home in December of last year to a house fire near Novinger. The fire marshall said the house was a total loss.
On Saturday, a lunch and auction benefit was held at Adair County R-1 School to raise money and help the family rebuild.
"They've been very thoughtful with their donations. The community's kindness is just overwhelming to help my family out to replace items that were lost in the fire," said the Snyder's Cousin Charity Yardley.
Homemade goods and gift certificates were among the items auctioned off.
People also helped themselves to pulled pork sandwich meals.
There was about $1,500 donated to the family.
The Snyder family said they are planning to rebuild and live in the same area.
