The Macon Area Chamber of Commerce is helping one community group to get more support for its cause.
The Macon County Ministries Group came to the chamber's monthly luncheon Tuesday afternoon to talk about the different community outreach programs that it participates in, including the emergency food pantry, monthly food distribution, Helping Hands, Santa Shop, Food 4 Kids, Buddy Packs and utility assistance.
The group says this was a great opportunity to continue spreading the word to the community.
"I'm constantly amazed at the generosity of the people of Macon County and particularly the food pantry. We couldn't do it without so many contributions from every organization, school, business, club, church in Macon County that contributes in some way," said Linda Truitt of Macon County Ministries.
Macon County Ministries has about 300 volunteers in its programs who also help run the group's new food pantry building on Sunset Hills Drive in Macon.
