Wednesday morning Congressman Dave Loebsack was in Ottumwa visiting the Child Health Specialty Clinic.
The clinic provides services for children with special health care needs and has been in existence since 1977.
About 27% of the programâ??s funding comes from the Title V Maternal Child Health Block Grant which is a federal block grant.
Cheryll Jones of Child Health Specialty Clinic wanted Congressman Loebsack to see how funding with the Title V Block Grant is actually used.
And the congressman has made it know that he is a strong supporter of Title V.
â??We've got to make sure that when cuts are made, we don't make cuts in programs that are absolutely essential for the health of our children and for our population more generally. We know also that for young people if their problems are diagnosed and dealt with early on, we know for a fact that we're going to save everybody a lot of money down the line. So we've got to take a long view of this, not just sort of the short term view of â??so how much can we cut',â?? Congressman Loebsack.
Congressman Loebsack said his job right now is to prevent any major cut backs from funding.
