The Adair County Commissioners Office is getting a headstart, looking ahead to next year.

The commissioners met with Adair County Clerk Sandy Collop Wednesday morning to talk about their budget for 2014.

Commisioners hope to maintain the usual maintenance costs for county properties and roads, including the Adair County Courthouse and the Annex Building, which houses the Adair County Prosecutor's office.

They said they want to be safe now rather than sorry later.

"General maintenance, anticipate for sidewalk repair or whatever we have to do. It's kind of hard to do that when you don't know exactly what you are going to spend so we try to put a little more in what we think we might need," said Adair County Presiding Commissioner.

The commissioners also had to make sure there is enough money in the budget to cover the expenses related to hosting the Missouri Association of Counties meeting next October.

The budget will be reviewed by the county clerk before it's finalized.
