Dustin Dewayne Armstrong

An Ottumwa man accused of assaulting a two-year-old child will make his next appearance in court on Friday.

Dustin Dewayne Armstrong
, 19, is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing at the Wapello County Courthouse at 10 a.m.

Armstrong has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of child endangerment and willful injury.

Court records indicate that Armstrong will be represented by a public defender as his case works its way through the courts.

Police say that on April 22, a male child left in Armstrong's care was so seriously injured that he had to be airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Armstrong was arrested on June 3 and remains in the Wapello County jail on $50,000 bond.
