Crash survivor shares first-hand experience with high school students

High school students had the opportunity to hear how a car crash changed one young womanâ??s life.

KTVO, along with the Northeast Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, took the Just Drive pledge campaign to Schuyler County High School on Tuesday.

The students listened to speaker Kayle Denny, who has first-hand experience with being involved in a car crash.

The crash took the life of one her best friends.

Students in attendance really took her message to heart.

â??Feedback from the kids makes it worth getting up at whatever time and going however far. The teachers see the reactions and can see it can make a difference,â?? Kayle said.

Kayle told the students that the crash left her with a spinal cord injury and she is now disabled.None of the passengers in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The next Just Drive assembly is scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at Putnam County High School.
