Local authorities are investigating a string of events including theft and a homicide and believe the two are connected.

On Sunday, Moberly police were called to a Walmart in reference to a shoplifting. Two subjects, a white male and a black male were seen stealing items from the store.

The subjects then got into a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Macon.

The vehicle that was seen leaving Walmart with the suspects was located abandoned and turned over to Macon Police Department.

Shortly after the vehicle was found, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of a fire in which a vehicle had been set on fire.

A truck owned by one of the victims of the shooting was stolen and later wrecked.

Randolph County authorities were later called to a residence on Route BB in which a woman was assaulted and her vehicle stolen.

That vehicle is a white Saturn Vue with the license plate FA6T3E. Police are looking for that vehicle.

While investigating the vehicle that was burned, Moberly police attempted to make contact with the owner of the vehicle. That is when they found the 92-year-old victim deceased.
