Deadline to pay personal property taxes in Adair County approaching
Kirksville, Mo. —
The deadline to pay personal property taxes in Adair County is almost here.
Tax bills are considered delinquent after December 31.
According to the Adair County Collector's Office, statements were mailed out in late November.
That office accepts cash payments, checks, money orders and debit and credit cards.
Adair County Collector Sonja Harden says the office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
However, the office is closed during the noon hour for lunch.
Harden says paying taxes in the office is an easy process.
"If you bring your tax statements with you, that's very helpful. It cuts down on the wait. If you can't be in the office, just as long as you have them postmarked by December 31, you'll be good."
You're also encouraged to keep your tax receipt.
Missourians must provide paid personal property tax receipts to the Missouri Department of Revenue in order to license your motor vehicle.
You're also required to submit the previous year's receipt for a one year renewal, or the past two year's receipt for a two year license renewal.
