Delay in trial for Ottumwa man charged with murder
A southeast Iowa man will wait longer to go on trial on a first degree murder charge.
Brandon Seim, 20, of Ottumwa, is charged in the death of Andy Madren, 34, also of Ottumwa. Seim, who was scheduled to go on trial Tuesday, will now wait until September 30 for trial. It was continued at the request of the defense.
Police were called to the residence on East Division Street in November 2011, concerning a report of a stabbing.
When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center, where he later died.
Seim remains in custody under a $500,000 cash only bond.
