Dinner and auction to benefit Ottumwa YMCA

Friday night at Indian Hills, the Ottumwa YMCA will hold their biggest fundraiser of the year.

All proceeds will go towards memberships for youth and families in the area, as well as help towards the YMCA's goal of making Ottumwans happy and healthy.

There will be a variety of items up for auction, including several vacation packages.

Ottumwa YMCA Executive Director Tom Sisler said that each year, the community steps up and comes together to support the Y.

"We're so lucky to have the Ottumwa Y here," Sisler said. "It's actually been in Ottumwa for 125 years serving this area, serving the youth, families and getting them involved, making them healthy, helping them live happier, healthier lifestyles."

The dinner and auction begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday and goes until about 9 p.m.

Members from the YMCA will also be selling raffle tickets Thursday evening at both Hy-Vee locations in Ottumwa.
