Fri, 11 Apr 2014 18:25:07 GMT — Iowa Public Television brought a special guest to the Ottumwa Public Library Friday morning. After story time, children at the library watched an episode of Martha Speaks. Then at snack time, Martha the dog herself took the time to take pictures and meet with the kids. The Martha Speaks character is designed to teach kids up to 20 words each show. IPTV is traveling to 25 Iowa communities with Martha. Ottumwaâ??s library was the seventh stop Martha has made so far this month. "We're just really happy for this partnership with Iowa Public Television because it allows us to emphasize early literacy and the earlier a child gets interested in reading and books the longer a hobby they will have for their lifetime," Director of the Ottumwa Public Library Sonja Ferrell said. Marthaâ??s next stop will be tomorrow at Musser Public Library in Muscatine. For IPTVâ??s full schedule click here.
