Don't sweat it! Get your A/C checked before extreme heat

Technicians say air conditioners have to work overtime because of the 90 degree temperatures we've seen.
With the extreme heat the summer almost promises to bring, it's putting a strain on our air conditioners, potentially leading to them break down.

Technicians say air conditioners have to work overtime because of the 90 degree temperatures we've seen. They say it's important to get your A/C checked once a year to make sure it's running at maximum efficiency.

"We always say the customer knows their equipment the best," said Tim Peters with Peters Heating and Air Conditioning. "So if it's not keeping up or perhaps they're noticing a noise or rattling something that they're not familiar with, that's the time that they should call. If they don't, often times they can cause themselves a bigger problem."

Experts say it is important to check your filters often to make sure they are clean, and if they aren't, you need to replace them.

They also recommend that you take your water hose and spray away debris from the coils on your outside A/C window unit.

They say when you mow your grass, mow away from your unit.
