On Wednesday The Kirksville Planning and Zoning Commission met and the commission reviewed several things.
Kirksville Codes and Planning Director Brad Selby gave the board a comprehensive plan to review that basically explains the goals of the city.
And, because the commission has not met since April he also told the members the city council overrode their decision not to allow construction of new duplexes along west LaHarpe Street.
Selby also discussed a new proposal that would regulate new construction downtown.
He said the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee surveyed downtown property owners, but some owners at the meeting said they never received a survey to fill out.
City officials received 10 completed surveys from downtown property owners and they say those surveys seem to indicate that property owners are in favor of putting downtown design guidelines in place.
Selby said they will have several more open meetings before there will be a final decision on the proposed downtown design guidelines.
