Drive-thru flu clinic a stinging success

2012 Drive-thru influenza (flu) clinic

The Adair County Health Department drive-thru influenza clinic was a huge success even though weather forced it to close early.

Cars lined up at the Nemo Fairgrounds in Kirksville for the clinic.

Participants were able to drive up, roll down their window and receive a free flu shot.

When we checked in around 3 p.m. the health department administrator said he was very pleased with how things were going

â??We've had our event now for about two hours and we've had over 400 people that have already come through, and we think that's really excellent,â?? Jim LeBaron Adair County Health Department Administrator said.

â??Considering we have very cold weather and rainâ?¦we're very pleased.â??

LeBaron said in the three hours the drive-thru flu shot clinic was open Thursday, about 800 people got the vaccination.

He said 50 volunteers helped with the event.

The drive-thru clinic was forced to shut down about three hours early because of lightning.
