A fire involving a tractor-trailer led to a scary sight on one Heartland highway early Sunday morning.

A semi truck hauling hamburger and ground sausage burst into flames.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened in the eastbound lanes of Highway 36 near New Cambria.

The fire was reported after 5 a.m. Sunday.

However, one lane of the highway was closed until 3 p.m. as crews worked to clean up the scene.

Authorities say they were not able to determine the cause of the blaze, but it is believed to be related to a mechanical issue.

Troopers told KTVO the truck driver noticed smoke and flames.

As a result, he quickly pulled the truck onto the shoulder of the road.

Shortly after the driver got out of the cab, the truck became engulfed in flames.

The driver was not injured in the incident.
