Drug suspect hit by car, then arrested
A prior drug offender is back in jail, and a local woman is also behind bars after Kirksville Police responded Tuesday to a report of a woman laying in a yard.
When officers got to 315 East Illinois Street, they saw Sandra Hayes, 49, of Kirksville coming out of a garage in the back.
Hayes told police a friend of hers had been laying in the yard, but had already left.
A short time later, officers saw Roy Clark, 43, of Kirksville come out of the garage and take off running.
As an officer chased him, Clark ran into Illinois Street and was hit by a car. He received injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Clark is charged with possession of meth, resisting arrest and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Hayes is charged with manufacturing meth and possession of meth. She's being held in the Adair County Jail on $75,000 cash- only bond.
Bond for Clark is a total of $35,000 cash only.
