For nature enthusiasts or anyone with a curiosity about bald eagles, this Saturday's Eagle Watch is for you.
The 8th annual event is hosted by the Wapello County Trails Council and will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will feature a mile-long hike with plenty of opportunities to learn more about bald eagles.
The Iowa DNR will be there along with a live eagle from Des Moines.
Wapello County Trails council member Billy Young said the event is setting up to be a great one.
"Today, I was over the Market Street Bridge and counted 27 eagles in trees and on the ice," said Young. "It looks like it's going to be a grand eagle walk, talk, and learn this coming Saturday."
The Eagle Watch will also feature a photo contest with cash prizes.
Boy scouts will be holding a fire under the Jefferson Street Viaduct where they will be serving hot chocolate and cookies.
The event is free of cost to the public.
