On April 22, we will celebrate Earth Day, and you'll get a glimpse into the world of "Today's Recycling in Macon County."
At the Macon R-1 High School there will be an interesting and fun recycling workshop. The Macon County Sheltered Workshop will show you how they operate their recycle collection center to employ workers with disabilities, making your community a better place to live.
Dede Spidle, the Production Supervisor a Macon County Sheltered Workshop, tells us their main mission is to provide work for people with disabilities.
"The workshops been around since 1986 doing recycling and 10 years ago we opened up a thrift store called timeless treasures and we're just continuously amazed by how little people in our community know about our driving force our non profit mission. and service we can provide for people here in town," said Spidle.
The presentation will be Monday, April 22 where people can learn the importance of supporting the recycling efforts, and their mission to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
