Eat BBQ and raise money for children
If you love barbeque here's your chance to enjoy it, and help make a difference.
Truman State University's Phi Kappa Tau chapter is having its 18th annual Cookout for Kids on April 16.
The barbeque is to benefit the SeriousFun Camps for children who have chronic or terminal illnesses.
The camps are free of charge to childrenâ??s families.
The Chapter Cookout Chairman Dustin Hoernis said members of the chapter have been to the camp, and it's wonderful to see how the money helps children.
â??One of our brothers last summer â?¦ he went to the camp out in LA and volunteered for a week and he said it was one of the best weeks of his life,â?? Hoernis said. â??So, hopefully we can keep having guys go out. And, I know me and two other people are kind of thinking about maybe going out this summer to help out.â??
On the menu is barbecued half chicken or pork steak, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and a soda or bottled water for $10.
Food can be delivered or picked up between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 215 N. High St.
You can also pre-order until April 9, by contacting Dustin Hoernis at 618-979-7430.
Donations are appreciated as well.
