Eating pancakes to celebrate the Fourth of July
Kirksville residents got a chance to have a delicious breakfast Saturday morning.
The Kirksville Kiwanis, Quota, Sojourners, Women of Today and Rotary Service Clubs all came together to throw a pancake breakfast at the Downtown Cinema 8 parking lot at The Square.
For only $5, there was all you could eat pancakes with syrup and fruit toppings and sausage with all the coffee and juice you could drink as well.
Event planners said it took a lot of work to put all this together. But it was all worth it to help the community have fun this holiday weekend.
"We see a lot of people bring their families. You see lots of folks with their dogs, with their kids, people from out of town. Having the Farmer's Market right next to it brings us a lot of traffic from that, so it's a great event," said Maggie Herron of the Noon Rotary Club.
The event was part of Kirksville's 9th annual Red, White and Blue Festival. All proceeds raised from the breakfast will go towards the city's 4th of July fireworks display.
