      Eisenhower Elementary celebrates Dr. Seuss

      Students at Eisenhower Elementary School in Ottumwa celebrate Doctor Seuss' birthday in a unique way.

      Kids met in the cafeteria Friday morning for a ??Green Eggs and Ham?? themed breakfast.

      The students are celebrating Doctor Seuss' birthday, which falls on March 2nd. Seuss would have been 110 this year.

      The National Association of Education's Read Across America Day also occurred this week, that??s a program that encourages adults and children to read.

      Eisenhower Elementary School has been celebrating all week, some staff members even put on their red and white striped hats for the occasion.

      ??The kids just enjoy having the opportunity to come together and have a little green eggs and ham to celebrate one of their favorite authors,?? said Eisenhower Elementary Principal Dana Warnecke.

      A few of the students told us their favorite Doctor Seuss books are ??Fox and Socks,?? ??The Sneetches?? and of course ??Green Eggs and Ham.??
