Eldon man convicted on charges of incest, sex abuse

      Lucinda Hopwood

An Eldon, Iowa man has been convicted on 11 counts of Sexual Abuse, Incest and Indecent Exposure.

A Wapello County jury found Jerme David Hopwood guilty of the charges on Friday.

Hopwood was arrested in January 2012, after Eldon Police accused him of molesting three girls under the age of 12. The girls were all related to Hopwood.

Also arrested at the time were Hopwood's brother Mark and his mother, Lucinda.

Mark Hopwood received a suspended sentence on a charge of Incest in October of 2012.

Online court records indicate that Mark Hopwood violated the terms of his probation and that suspended sentence was revoked in May 2013 and Hopwood will now serve his original five year sentence.

Lucinda Hopwood recevied a suspended sentence on a single charge of Child Endangerment.

Jerme Hopwood is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 9.
