The annual American Gothic Days celebration begins Friday in Eldon.
The festival is a celebration of small town Iowa, and of course the legacy of Grant Wood's famous American Gothic painting.
Organizer Shirley Stacey told KTVO that it is no small matter for a town of less than 1,000 people to put on a three day event.
â??One thing about Eldon is that when we have a big event they'll come out of the woodwork. We always have lots of people that are willing to help you out. Whether itâ??s behind the scenes or serving our meals or whatever we are doing,â?? Stacey said.
The fun starts on Friday night with the supper in the park.
For Stacey, Saturday's highlight is the cardboard boat races at the fairgrounds.
