EMT accused of assaulting patient's wife, injuring her
A member of a northeast Missouri ambulance crew is accused of assaulting the wife of one of his patients.
According to court documents, Michael â??Mikeâ?? Pratte, 46, of La Plata is charged with a misdemeanor count of third-degree assault.
Investigators said Pratte is an EMT with the Schuyler County Ambulance District.
When the crew was on a medical call at a home in Queen City on May 29, Pratte allegedly grabbed the victim's arm, shoving his elbow into her side and putting her on the floor.
Court papers state that two other members of the ambulance crew had to pull Pratte off of the victim and remove him from the house.
The woman had to be transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Authorities said the victim had a bottle of some medication that her husband might have taken too much of, and Pratte requested to see the bottle.
She gave it to the EMT. Then, the woman asked to see the bottle of medication again.
Pratte had the bottle in his hand, and when the woman went to grab the medication, that is when Pratte allegedly grabbed her arm and committed the assault.
