The 2013 school year is right around the corner, and school supplies are filling store shelves.
The Missouri annual sales tax holiday begins on Friday August 2nd, and runs through Sunday August 4th.
We spoke with executive director, Sandra Williams of the Kirksville Chamber of Commerce, and she stresses the importance of shopping local.
"It means we want people to stay in town to shop, but what people need to be aware of is, some of those out of town locations where they like to go to shop, they don't offer sales tax savings," said Williams. "So we encourage people to stay at home and save money on school supplies."
There are some cities in our viewing area who will not participate in the 2013 sales tax holiday. Those include Green City, Marceline and Shelbina.
