Expo to help new parents get ready for parenthood
The Northeast Missouri Community Action Agency is holding the 2014 Maternity Expo this Thursday, April 3.
The event will take place from 2-6 p.m. at the Baptist Student Union Building in Kirksville on the Truman State University Campus.
The event is designed to bring awareness of the agency's Early Head Start Prenatal Program. The program helps and assist low income families who have new or young children.
"It's important so they have education information about pregnancy and childhood development. It's important to raise healthy well developed children," said Alizabeth Ballard of the Northeast Missouri Community Action Agency.
About 25 local community partners will also be at the event. They include the Adair County Health Department, WIC, OB/Gyn Specialty Group, Parents as Teachers, Kirksville Area Technical Center, Lifeline Pregnancy Center, Caring Communities, Birth Circle of Kirksville, and the Missouri Career Center. They want parents to learn about exciting opportunities for personal and professional growth the area has to offer.
The Adair county ambulance district will also be there. they will help teach parents how to install car seats properly.
You can also at the event enter for a chance to win door prizes. Door prizes will be awarded at 5:30 pm.
