Fairfield Community Schools superintendent accepts new job offer
The superintendent of Fairfield Community Schools has formally accepted a new job.
Art Sathoff has served as superintendent of the Fairfield District for the past three years. In the fall, he will be the next Indianola Schools Superintendent. Prior to becoming Fairfieldâ??s superintendent, Sathoff served as the high school's principal for a couple of years. Before that, he had been a principal for the Pekin School District.
â??I'm gonna miss the people,â?? Superintendent Sathoff said. â??There are tremendous people here. We have had great community support for what we're trying to get done in the school. I felt very much embraced as superintendent here. I serve a church here in town. I definitely will miss the church people, and my wife and our sons have lived in this area for 24 years, so there are a lot of great relationships and good memories and just a lot of great people here in the heartland area.â??
Sathoff said he's most proud of the district's financial situation improving over the past two years and also improvements made to the district's curriculum.
The school board will discuss the process of selecting the next superintendent at this week's meeting.
