A $10,000 grant will help Fairfield continue to highlight artists and musicians.
The 1st Fridays Art Walk was one of 150 organizations to receive the National Endowment of the Art's Challenge America Fast-Track grants. About 300 applications were sent in and a total of $1.5 million in grant money was awarded to the recipients.
In Fairfield, the money will go towards bringing in art and music from outside Fairfield to compliment and expand their home-grown talent. After 12 years of 1st Fridays Art Walk events, it can be challenging to keep things new and interesting, but the $10,000 will go a long way towards helping with that.
"I think that what it does, it just adds another dimension and depth to the event and allows us to continue to strengthen it and make people want to come and enjoy this iconic, signature event for Fairfield," said Cindy Woodbury, Executive Director of 1st Fridays Art Walk.
Woodbury said she is also thankful for the community partners that contribute to the program's success all year long.
