Fairfield Police: Man punches arresting officer in face

Zachary Gory/Jefferson County Jail

A Fairfield man apparently had one too many drinks at a local pub early Friday.

Zachary Gory, 29, is facing several charges this week, after police say he punched an arresting officer in the jaw, and shoved another to the ground.

Just before 2 a.m. Friday, Fairfield police officers were called to respond to a disturbance at a parking lot near The Hideaway Beer Garden and Pub on North Court Street.

Online court records show Gory lied to authorities about his identity. When told he was under arrest, police say Gory became physically violent.

He’s now charged with two counts of Assault on a Peace Office, Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, Gory was still in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

He’s scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing 11 a.m. Monday.
