Almost a year after he disappeared, a Fairfield family is still looking for their son.
Fredrick Workman, now 16 years old, walked away from a youth facility in Des Moines last August. Freddy's mother, Anna Shields, said they still have had no contact with him and don't know where he is. The family has gotten a few tips over the last year, saying Freddy was seen in Newton, Grinnell and Mount Pleasant. However, nothing has resulted from any of these tips.
Shields told KTVO the police have said they don't have the resources to search for Freddy. His probation officer told Shields all she can do is wait.
"I just want to find out where he's at and if he's okay, so I can have closure and so that I'm not so stressed out," Shields said. "[I'm] trying to take care of my kids and I think about him all the time and it's really taken a [toll] on me."
Shields said she is trying to organize a search party of family and friends to continue looking for Freddy.
Freddy is described as 5'7" with short blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a small scar at the bottom of his chin. If you have any information, Shields asks that you contact her at 641-451-7845 or through Facebook.
