Fairfield Tourism on the rise according annual report
The city saw a 14 percent increase in its hotel/motel tax revenue last year, which is a strong indicator of new travel and tourism.
According to the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center's annual report, patrons from 43 Iowa counties and 32 other states attended performances at the venue. FACC Executive Director Rustin Lippincott attributes increased tourism in Fairfield to a number of factors, including its national recognition in the past year or so.
â??Most recently, we were recognized by William Shatner's organization Moving America Forward, so you combine all those together and then you look at our arts and culture, our entertainment, our strong business community, people are travelling here, for whatever the reason is, people are coming to Fairfield at a fast pace and our economy is benefiting because of them,â?? Lippincott said.
The Smithsonian Institution also recently recognized Fairfield as the seventh best small town in America. The arts and convention center is a major tourist attraction in Fairfield.
