Fairfield's city administrator resigns

The Fairfield City Council formally accepted the City Administrator's resignation at Monday night's regular council meeting.

Kevin Flanagan has held the position since 2012. Last week the council held a closed session to discuss Flanaganâ??s performance evaluation conducted by the city's Personnel Committee. After much discussion, the committee came to the conclusion that Flanaganâ??s behavior is unprofessional at times. However, Mayor Ed Malloy told us Tuesday that Flanagan made some great accomplishments during his 22 months on the job. Ultimately, the city administrator choose to resign from the position at Wednesdayâ??s private meeting. The mayor says there were certain things the city leaders couldn't come to an agreement on.

"We're definitely parting ways on good terms," Mayor Malloy said. "Kevin was very good in some areas for the city and really helped us move forward, so we have nothing but good thoughts and good feelings for kevin about his future."

This week will be Kevinâ??s last week working as the city manager. The personnel committee will soon have a discussion on the hiring process of the next city administrator.
