Tue, 20 Aug 2013 19:25:03 GMT — In another fall sports preview we caught up with Fairfields Football Coach Mike Schenck who gave us a little insight on what we can expect to see in the Trojans first game against the Albia Blue Demons and where he sees his team at the end of the season. Your first game is against Albia, what are you looking forward to in your season opener?MS: Well, a guess a little revenge. We got beat last year up there, we didnâ??t play very well the first half, came back in the second half, but didnâ??t quite have enough to regain the lead. Weâ??re hoping that maybe we can start the football game better this year and have a better first half and battle the blue demons. Jerry Staten is a great coach, a legendary coach here in Iowa, and he always puts a quality team on the field and it will be a challenge for us. I know you said your season wasnâ??t as good as you would have liked it to be, but you did make it to the playoffs which is great. Do you see yourself back there this year?MS: I certainly hope so. Here in Iowa you just have to finish in the top four in your district, there are seven teams in each district, some of those teams arenâ??t going to make it. We think weâ??re going to be a better football team this year. Weâ??ve got some things we need to cleanup like turnovers, limiting big plays, and I think if we can do that I think weâ??ll be right back there.Make sure to tune into KTVO news at 10:00, or log back onto www.heartlandconnection.com to see how the Trojans first game against the Blue Demons goes!
