Families come out to fish at Spur Pond
The cool and sunny weather meant a perfect day to go fishing for many Kirksville residents.
The Kirksville Parks and Recreation Department hosted a Family Fishing Day at Spur Pond in Kirksville Saturday afternoon. About 150 parents and their children came out to catch fish.
Students from Truman State University's Exercise Science Department also helped plan the event to gain some work experience.
"It feels really good to have this event all semester long planning it. Then you get to receive the result and see all the people come out, businesses support you. If feels really great," says Truman State Student Jacob Owen.
Fishing equipment was provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation while the Kirksville Bait Shop brought the fish bait.
There were games and prizes awarded.
Kirksville Parks and Recreation wanted to provide a good environment to start the fishing season.
