Saturday marked opening day for the Kirksville Farmers Market.
The market will now be open from 7 a.m. until noon every Saturday until October.
Itâ??s held at the west side of the downtown Courthouse Square on Elson Street in Kirksville.
Plants, fresh produce and handmade goods are just a few items you can expect to find.
The market is put on to raise money for a scholarship, which is given to a Truman State AG student.
It is also held to benefit both the community and local farmers.
â??We also feel like weâ??re doing a service to the community, providing a place where people can buy fresh vegetables that are locally grown and thatâ??s a bonus for a lot of people,â?? said Susan FitzGerald, KV Kiwanis Farmers Market committee chairperson.
A wider variety of produce is expected within the next few weeks.
