Father, son fugitives found in Texas in stolen Kirksville van
Police in Texas have found a father and son duo wanted by Ottumwa police on sexual abuse charges.
The two were in a van stolen from the Kirksville Walmart store parking lot on June 9, 2012.
El Paso Police arrested Michael Connell, 46, and his son, John Connell, 18, late Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of an El Paso motel.
The stolen van the two men were in matched the description of a vehicle used in a theft at an El Paso convenience store just 35 minutes earlier.
Further investigation revealed that both men were wanted out of Iowa and that the van had been reported stolen from Kirksville.
Michael Connell now faces a new charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
El Paso police said John Connell lied to officers about his identity and is charged with failure to identify-fugitive.
The father and son are being held in the El Paso County Jail.
Michael Connellâ??s bond is set at $40,000. Bond for John Connell is set at $25,000.
The property that police believe was stolen from the 7-11 store was a 12-pack of Coke.
It was found inside the van.
