They say daughters are the twinkle in their fatherâ??s eyes, and Friday night little girls can dance the night away with their dads.
The Heartland Taskforce is getting ready for its 12th annual Daddy/Daughter dance at the NEMO Fair Grounds Multi-purpose building.
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. little girls can dress up and pretend theyâ??re going to prom with their fathers.
â??Itâ??s a wonderful time. We will pack this place,â?? said Heartland Task Force Member Jennifer Houser. â??We have the daddy daughter daffodils so the girls can make their own corsage on their wrist. This is just a blast. I don't have daughters myself, but I really enjoy watching them enjoy the dance.â??
The dance is a fundraiser to raise funds for substance abuse education in the Kirksville schools.
Houser said the task force buys the curriculum that they use to train the teachers.
â??It (the dance) also brings dads and daughters together which is one thing that really prevents substance abuse,â?? Houser said.
The dance is $6 per couple and $2 for each additional child.
All girls pre-school through sixth grade along with their dad or significant adult male role model are invited.
