Organizations are continuing to make sure deer hunters are fed well this opening weekend, while helping to raise money for a great cause.
On Sunday, the La Plata Christian Ministries Food Distribution Center held their 5th annual Hunter's Soup Lunch and Supper in their food pantry in La Plata.
Many showed up to the good will donation for lunch as they helped themselves to different soups such as chili, beef stew and broccoli and cheese, while at the same time raising money for the La Plata Food Pantry.
"It is really a big need. It's very good. We have a different opportunities that are coming up we like to put the money towards in our community now that would be good things to do. With Christmas coming around the corner, we always have a higher cliental a little bit," said Stephanie Allen, Director of the La Plata Christian Ministries Food Distribution Center.
There were also desserts such as cake and pies to enjoy.
Almost all the food served at the event was given by donations or home cooked by community members.
