A fiery fatal crash in northeast Missouri Wednesday claimed the life of the unidentified driver.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said one person was killed in the Scotland County crash.

That happened just before 9 a.m. on Scotland County Route D nine miles southwest of Memphis.

Authorities said a 1994 Buick LeSabre ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a bridge rail head-on, causing the car to become fully engulfed in flames.

The identity of the driver can't be confirmed until further investigation.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Scotland County Sheriff Wayne Winn.
