Fighting cold and flu symptoms
As the flu season descends upon us, many viewers wanted to know how to avoid getting a cold or the flu without using medications.
Lori Guffey, a Registered Nurse affiliated with the Adair County Health Department, said it's simple things like sleeping eight hours a day.
"Everyone needs to get a lot of rest," said Guffey. "You need to stay home of course when you're sick, drink a lot of fluids, and eat healthy. You certainly don't want to go out into a lot of crowded areas whenever the peak time of the flu is because it's contagious. "
Guffey said covering your mouth when you cough, washing your hands constantly with soap and water, along with using hand sanitizers, are also ways to avoid getting a cold or the flu.
