Fire destroys Ottumwa used car dealership
OTTUMWA, Iowa —
A used car dealership just outside Ottumwa burned to the ground early Tuesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m., Wapello County rural firefighters were called to R&R Auto on Highway 63 south of Ottumwa where the entire building was engulfed in flames.
Fire Chief Kelly Feikert told KTVO it took hours to put out the flames because there were piles of tires inside. Crews were still on scene at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
No one was injured, but the entire building, a few vehicles, RVs and a boat were lost in the fire.
The cause is still under investigation, but Feikert said there is no reason to believe the fire is suspicious.
