First Annual Bike the Byway set for June 21st
Gear up for a ride across the byway cycling enthusiasts.
The first annual Bike the Byway event will be held June 21st
The idea for the bike ride was floating around for three years.
It finally originated through a group that oversees the historic scenic byway.
The path will be 47 miles. It will start in Ottumwa at Market on Main and make stops in Blakesburg, Unionville, Drakesville, and end in Bloomfield.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for activities along the historic scenic byway.
"Any money will be used as seed money to do projects along historic hills--economic development, publicity, and tourism related events on the byway," said Bike the Byway Chairman Katy Anderson.
Registration is open until June 17th and costs $25
Bikers will depart at 9 a.m.
