First responders quickly douse semi fire
NEAR LANCASTER, Mo. —
Just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lancaster Fire and Rescue responded to a semi-truck on fire at a gas station outside Lancaster.
The driver stopped to use the restroom at the BP station on Highway 63 just south of Lancaster when he noticed his rear axle was on fire.
According to authorities, as he tried to extinguish the flames he was injured when the axle's airbags went off.
Until fire crews arrived, people at the gas station helped contain the fire.
Schuyler County paramedics were also on the scene and treated the driver's minor injuries.
