Five children, two adults flown to hospitals after serious crash

Five children and two adults were flown to two separate hospitals after a serious accident in southeast Iowa Friday afternoon.

The one-vehicle crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 2 outside Cantril.

Witnesses at the scene told KTVO that the SUV was attempting to pass another vehicle. The Iowa State Patrol said the SUV overcorrected, left the roadway and overturned. The totaled vehicle ended up in a corn field along the highway.

The names and conditions of those involved are not available at this time.

Law enforcement officers are still investigating the crash.
